Joy Festa, CScD CCC-SLP, CEO
Joy founded Joy Opens Doors in 2017 with the lofty goals of improving the standard of care in the local community and creating a sustainable work environment for therapists to create more continuity for clients.
Joy has been an SLP since 2010, when she graduated from Marywood University in Pennsylvania with her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology. Since then, Joy has worked with adults in rehabilitation facilities, in home-based early intervention, and in clinic-based pediatric treatment. She found that she was passionate about working with children in their homes and using a family-centered model.
She moved to the Bay Area in 2014, and after becoming familiar with the treatments available in the local community, was inspired to complete her clinical doctorate and complete a research study to examine relative efficacy of treatments provided to children with autism. Joy holds certifications in Hanen It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words, Talkability, and as a DIR Floortime Proficient Provider. She is PROMPT and IAOM trained. Currently, Joy is home with her two young children during COVID, and her role in the company is program development, to provide weekly training and support to the rest of the team, and handle intake, scheduling, insurance billing, and answer questions from clients.
