Mahta Shokouhbakhsh, MA, CCC-SLP, Clinical Supervisor
Mahta joined Joy Opens Doors in 2019, and has been practicing as a pediatric speech therapist since graduating with her Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from San Jose State University in 2015. She was born and raised in San Jose, California. Prior to becoming an SLP, Mahta worked with children on the autism spectrum as an applied behavior analysis technician, providing direct services to children and their families in their homes.
Mahta has received two ACE awards for continuing education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and she is certified in Hanen More Than Words and Talkability, and as a Basic DIR Floortime provider. She is PROMPT and IAOM trained and has completed advanced training in the alternative/augmentative communication system Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
Mahta’s favorite thing about being a speech therapist is helping children to find their inner voice. Within Joy Opens Doors, in addition to seeing her own caseload, Mahta is a clinical supervisor for new graduates completing their clinical fellowship and for graduate students completing their externship practicum.
